About the Collection
This collection holds a very special place in my heart as it reminds me of my childhood and the scenes and feelings of returning home. As you cross over the Ohio River (and be sure to hold your breath over the bridge) you will find yourself navigating through countless rural townships as you make your way to my hometown of Chillicothe, Ohio. I never tire of the expansive views of rolling green hills, rows upon rows of farmland and endless skies.
Growing up, I lived in several different places but most of my childhood was spent in the country living in a nearly 200 year old farmhouse until I was twelve. Like most young children, I looked forward most to summers on the farm. Summer time meant long warm days, playing outside later and a sea of flickering lightning bugs to chase. It meant swimming in the creek and skipping stones in the shallow ends, shucking fresh corn on the back porch that I picked out of our garden, four wheeler rides through the woods passing a tree with my parents initials carved into the bark, wild blackberry picking and my sister with a purple mouth (and empty bucket) and big woven hats, fishing with my grandparents while sitting on the banks of Paint Creek. Each trip we make to visit family I am always flooded with these memories, reminded of childhood experiences and a sense of appreciation for that nostalgia. It's these types of memories that make me want to be a better mother and create a sense of summer magic for my children. |
